Star Star Wars Wars (2010)

A frame by frame regeneration of Star Wars - A new Hope
Computer generated video, found footage

The original version, and the special edition of A New Hope were both split up into single frames from the DVD source. Every frame of the special edition was then run through a photo mosaic generator, with the frames from the original version to be used as the new picture elements.

For making the individual photo mosaics the software Metapixel was used, in a combination with custom written bash-scripts that made it possible to distribute the workload on multiple networked computers. The process took about three months of render time, on an average of three computers.
